Most "best electric car" lists rank the same handful of cars for everyone. That is not how buying works. The right EV for a family in Helsinki with no driveway is rarely the right one for a commuter in Madrid with a wallbox in the garage. Our finder asks six short questions about your life, then checks every car in our catalogue against your answers, using real-world range, local prices and your charging situation.
Your country changes almost everything that matters. The same car can cost thousands of euros more or less depending on the market, and electricity, road tax, insurance and purchase incentives all vary from one border to the next.
That is why we price every recommendation in the country you will actually buy and drive in, using new and used market prices collected for that market. If a model is not sold, or has no reliable price in your country, we would rather leave it out than guess.

How you charge decides how much an EV costs to run and how much range you really need. We treat three situations differently:

Official WLTP range figures are measured in a lab. On the road, most EVs cover noticeably less, and in a Nordic winter the gap grows further. We compare your daily driving and your longest regular trip against real-world range, and we lower that range again if you live somewhere with cold winters.
Cars that cannot comfortably handle the trips you make regularly are dropped, however attractive the price.

A single commuter, a couple and a family with a dog and a pram need very different cars. We check seats, boot space and, if you tell us parking is tight, overall length, so every car on your shortlist fits your everyday life and your parking space.
You can set a total budget or a monthly one, and choose new, used or either. Used EVs are often the smartest buy, because much of the early depreciation has already happened. We only suggest used cars from model years that are actually on the market in your country.

After filtering, we score the remaining cars on range comfort, charging fit, practicality and yearly running cost, then show you the best one to three. Each comes with plain reasons why it fits and an honest note on its drawbacks. If nothing fits, we tell you which of your answers is the limiting one and what to change.
The rules are the same every time: the same answers always give the same result, and verified specs always take priority over estimates.

Is the EV finder free?
Yes. Answer the six questions and you get your shortlist straight away, with no sign-up needed.
Can I get a good EV without a home charger?
Yes, many people do. The key is choosing an efficient car that fast-charges quickly, and knowing that public charging costs more per kilometre than home charging. The finder takes this into account when you tell it you have no charger.
Which countries are covered?
The finder works across the EU and the UK. How many cars it can price depends on the local market data available in each country.
Can I share my results?
Yes. Your result page has its own link, so you can send it to your partner or open it again later.
Once you have a shortlist, compare it against the car you drive today to see the real difference in cost over the years you plan to keep it.
